Laura La France is a director-cinematographer-editor from Sturgeon County, Alberta, currently based in Edmonton / amiskwaciwâskahikan. She shoots film and video under her sole proprietorship company, Big Mimic Productions.
With a specialty in Super 8 film production and editing, Laura’s diverse but largely documentary-style work ranges from music videos to branding segments to wedding films. She has produced work for musicians such as Ghost Woman, Aladean Kheroufi and Skinny Dyck; brands such as Blindman Brewing, and companies such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Her shorts and music videos have screened everywhere from the Bay Area to Cardiff, and in 2023, she showcased her work in-person at the Las Cruces International Film Festival in New Mexico.
Laura is currently in the midst of three documentary film projects, one of which has been ongoing since 2019. She also works as a digital and 35mm projectionist for Edmonton’s Metro Cinema and is currently represented by Vancouver-based Vista Point Studios.
