​Laura La France is a Treaty 6 filmmaker interested in telling true stories using analog processes. Working mostly with Super 8mm film, her work captures a sense of place on the Canadian Prairies that feels dreamy, timeless, and strangely familiar. Laura shoots, directs and edits music videos, wedding films and a variety of commercial work under her sole-proprietorship company, Big Mimic Productions. ​She is in post-production with her first major documentary work, ᐅᐦᑎᓯᐩ (ohtisiy).

Laura is an alumni of the Reykjavík International Film Festival Talent Lab (2026), sits on the board for Northwest Film Fest, and works as a projectionist for the apple of Edmonton’s eye, Metro Cinema.
