Laura La France is a filmmaker from Sturgeon County, Alberta, currently based in Edmonton / amiskwaciwâskahikan. Under Big Mimic Productions, Laura shoots a variety of work, with a focus on analog filmmaking.

Since 2019, Laura has slowly made a name for herself by shooting Super 8mm music videos for Alberta sweethearts like Ghost Woman, Mariel Buckley, Aladean Kheroufi, Cassia Hardy, Lucette, Skinny Dyck, and Jolie Laide. Her first independent short film, Kite Fest (2020), won 2nd Prize at Edmonton’s Gotta Minute Film Festival, and since then, Laura's shorts and music videos have screened at festivals from the Bay Area to Cardiff. Laura has also produced Super 8mm work for poets, weddings, craft breweries, independent theatres, and CBC documentaries.

When she isn't actively making films, Laura adjudicates for local film festivals, sits on the board for Northwest Film Fest, and works in the projection booth for Edmonton’s beloved Metro Cinema.
